महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-191, verse-22

अकीर्तिः कीर्त्यते यस्य लोके भूतस्य कस्यचित् ।
पतत्येवाधमाँल्लोकान्यावच्छब्दः स कीर्त्यते ॥२२॥
22. akīrtiḥ kīrtyate yasya loke bhūtasya kasyacit ,
patatyevādhamāँllokānyāvacchabdaḥ sa kīrtyate.

patati eva adhamān lokān yāvat śabdaḥ saḥ kīrtyate
22. If ill fame (akīrti) is spread about any being (bhūta) in the world, that being indeed falls to lower worlds as long as that (ill) report (śabda) is proclaimed.
