Let this proper spiritual discipline (tapas) be for you, which is urged by a sage (ṛṣi) (with the statement), 'I shall give.' Therefore, for one who is resolute in that (giving), an ascetic (tapasvin) is truly called (the embodiment of) spiritual discipline (tapas).
