महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-11, chapter-14, verse-3

न हि युद्धेन पुत्रस्ते धर्मेण स महाबलः ।
शक्यः केनचिदुद्यन्तुमतो विषममाचरम् ॥३॥
3. na hi yuddhena putraste dharmeṇa sa mahābalaḥ ,
śakyaḥ kenacidudyantumato viṣamamācaram.
3. na hi yuddhena putraḥ te dharmeṇa saḥ mahābalaḥ
śakyaḥ kenacit udyantum ataḥ viṣamam ācaram
3. hi te putraḥ saḥ mahābalaḥ yuddhena dharmeṇa vā kenacit उद्यन्तुम् न शक्यः अतः अहम् विषमम् आचरम् ।
3. Indeed, your son, that very mighty one, could not be overcome by anyone through righteous means (dharma) or by direct battle; therefore, I performed an unfair act.
