महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-11, chapter-14, verse-22

शेषे ह्यवस्थिते तात पुत्राणामन्तके त्वयि ।
न मे दुःखं भवेदेतद्यदि त्वं धर्ममाचरः ॥२२॥
22. śeṣe hyavasthite tāta putrāṇāmantake tvayi ,
na me duḥkhaṁ bhavedetadyadi tvaṁ dharmamācaraḥ.

me duḥkham bhavet etat yadi tvam dharmam ācaraḥ
22. tāta,
hi śeṣe avasthite,
putrāṇām antake tvayi,
yadi tvam dharmam ācaraḥ,
etat duḥkham me na bhavet.
22. "O son, if even one (son) had indeed remained, despite you being the annihilator of my sons, this sorrow would not be mine, if you had only practiced your righteous conduct (dharma)."
