महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-163, verse-9

तपसाराध्य वरदं देवं गोपतिमीश्वरम् ।
लेभे संवरणो भार्यां वसिष्ठस्यैव तेजसा ॥९॥
9. tapasārādhya varadaṁ devaṁ gopatimīśvaram ,
lebhe saṁvaraṇo bhāryāṁ vasiṣṭhasyaiva tejasā.
9. tapasā ārādhya varadam devam gopatim īśvaram
lebhe saṃvaraṇaḥ bhāryām vasiṣṭhasya eva tejasā
9. King Saṃvaraṇa, having propitiated the boon-bestowing god, the lord and master, through his austerities (tapas), obtained a wife, indeed by the power of Vasiṣṭha.
