महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-163, verse-23

तस्यां संजनयामास कुरुं संवरणो नृपः ।
तपत्यां तपतां श्रेष्ठ तापत्यस्त्वं ततोऽर्जुन ॥२३॥
23. tasyāṁ saṁjanayāmāsa kuruṁ saṁvaraṇo nṛpaḥ ,
tapatyāṁ tapatāṁ śreṣṭha tāpatyastvaṁ tato'rjuna.
23. tasyām sañjanayām āsa kurum saṃvaraṇaḥ nṛpaḥ |
tapatyām tapatām śreṣṭha tāpatyaḥ tvam tataḥ arjuna
23. King Saṃvaraṇa begot Kuru in her, Tapatī. Therefore, O Arjuna, best among those who practice austerities (tapas), you are known as Tapatya (a descendant of Tapatī).
