योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-7, chapter-162, verse-23

अहो बत नराः क्रूरा गतिः कैषां भविष्यति ।
कुर्वन्ति कर्दमोन्मग्ने नात्मन्यपि निजोदयम् ॥ २३ ॥
aho bata narāḥ krūrā gatiḥ kaiṣāṃ bhaviṣyati ,
kurvanti kardamonmagne nātmanyapi nijodayam 23
23. aho bata narāḥ krūrāḥ gatiḥ keṣām bhaviṣyati
kurvanti kardamonmagne na ātmani api nijodayam
23. aho bata krūrāḥ narāḥ,
keṣām gatiḥ bhaviṣyati? kardamonmagne ātmani api nijodayam na kurvanti
23. Alas, what will be the destiny of these cruel individuals? Even when deeply immersed in the mire (of worldly existence), they do not strive for their own spiritual progress or inner awakening (ātman) within themselves.
