अथाहं तं महादेवं पावकं पृष्टवानिदम् ।
शुकपक्षतिकोणस्थः भूयतामवनीश्वर ॥ १ ॥

athāhaṃ taṃ mahādevaṃ pāvakaṃ pṛṣṭavānidam ,
śukapakṣatikoṇasthaḥ bhūyatāmavanīśvara 1

Bhāsa said: 'Then I asked this of that great god Mahādeva, the Fire (Pāvaka): "O Lord of the Earth (avanīśvara), may you manifest as the one situated at the corner of the parrot's wing!"'
