श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
मनसैव मनश्छित्त्वा यद्यात्मा नावलोक्यते ।
ममेत्यहमिति त्यक्त्वा तत्तामरसलोचन ॥ १ ॥
मनसैव मनश्छित्त्वा यद्यात्मा नावलोक्यते ।
ममेत्यहमिति त्यक्त्वा तत्तामरसलोचन ॥ १ ॥

manasaiva manaśchittvā yadyātmā nāvalokyate ,
mametyahamiti tyaktvā tattāmarasalocana 1

Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: O lotus-eyed one, if the Self (ātman) is not perceived even after subduing the mind (manas) with the mind itself, then abandon the notions of "mine" and "I". This is the path.
