Those (calculated rays) are multiplied by three when the planet is in its exaltation sign (svoccabha). They are multiplied by two in its own trine sign (svatrikona). When in its own sign (svakshetra), they are multiplied by three and divided by two. Likewise, the same applies when the planet is in the sign of an intimate friend (adhimitragṛha).
