महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-101, verse-18

कण्व उवाच ।
मातलिस्त्वेकमव्यग्रः सततं संनिरीक्ष्य वै ।
पप्रच्छ नारदं तत्र प्रीतिमानिव चाभवत् ॥१८॥
18. kaṇva uvāca ,
mātalistvekamavyagraḥ satataṁ saṁnirīkṣya vai ,
papraccha nāradaṁ tatra prītimāniva cābhavat.
18. kaṇvaḥ uvāca mātaliḥ tu ekam avyagraḥ satatam saṃnirīkṣya
vai papraccha nāradam tatra prītimān iva ca abhavat
18. Kaṇva said: Mātali, intensely scrutinizing him (or them) one by one, constantly and without distraction, then asked Nārada there, and indeed became filled with affection, as it were.
