पप्रच्छ नारदं तत्र प्रीतिमानिव चाभवत् ॥१८॥

Kaṇva said: Mātali, intensely scrutinizing him (or them) one by one, constantly and without distraction, then asked Nārada there, and indeed became filled with affection, as it were.
