9.
Patience, prosperity (lakṣmī), and natural law (dharma) quickly abandoned those who were shameless, devoid of modesty, had poor conduct, and whose vows were useless. Prosperity (lakṣmī) went to the gods, O king, while misfortune (alakṣmī) went to the Asuras.
