महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-92, verse-8

दर्पान्मानः समभवन्मानात्क्रोधो व्यजायत ।
क्रोधादह्रीस्ततोऽलज्जा वृत्तं तेषां ततोऽनशत् ॥८॥
8. darpānmānaḥ samabhavanmānātkrodho vyajāyata ,
krodhādahrīstato'lajjā vṛttaṁ teṣāṁ tato'naśat.
8. darpāt mānaḥ samabhavat mānāt krodhaḥ vyajāyata
krodhāt ahrīḥ tataḥ alajjā vṛttam teṣām tataḥ anaśat
8. From pride (darpa), conceit arose; from conceit, anger (krodha) was born. From anger (krodha), shamelessness appeared, and then impudence. Consequently, their conduct was ruined.
