महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-92, verse-13

देवास्तु सागरांश्चैव सरितश्च सरांसि च ।
अभ्यगच्छन्धर्मशीलाः पुण्यान्यायतनानि च ॥१३॥
13. devāstu sāgarāṁścaiva saritaśca sarāṁsi ca ,
abhyagacchandharmaśīlāḥ puṇyānyāyatanāni ca.
13. devāḥ tu sāgarān ca eva saritaḥ ca sarāṃsi ca
abhyagacchan dharmaśīlāḥ puṇyāni āyatanāni ca
13. But the virtuous (dharma-śīla) gods approached the oceans, the rivers, the lakes, and also the sacred places (āyatana).
