युधिष्ठिर उवाच ।
न वै निर्गुणमात्मानं मन्ये देवर्षिसत्तम ।
तथास्मि दुःखसंतप्तो यथा नान्यो महीपतिः ॥१॥

na vai nirguṇamātmānaṁ manye devarṣisattama ,
tathāsmi duḥkhasaṁtapto yathā nānyo mahīpatiḥ.

Yudhishthira said: 'O best of divine sages, I certainly do not consider myself to be devoid of virtues (ātman). Yet, I am so tormented by sorrow just as no other king (mahīpati) is.'
