Then, the great ascetic (mahātapaḥ) imparted the secret knowledge of dice to the great-souled (mahātman) son of Pāṇḍu. After bestowing the knowledge of Aśvaśiras (the Horse's Head), he proceeded to perform his ritual ablutions.
