महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-6, verse-19

क्लेशैस्तीव्रैर्युज्यमानः सपत्नैः क्षमां कुर्वन्कालमुपासते यः ।
सं वर्धयन्स्तोकमिवाग्निमात्मवान्स वै भुङ्क्ते पृथिवीमेक एव ॥१९॥
19. kleśaistīvrairyujyamānaḥ sapatnaiḥ; kṣamāṁ kurvankālamupāsate yaḥ ,
saṁ vardhayanstokamivāgnimātmavā;nsa vai bhuṅkte pṛthivīmeka eva.
19. kleśaiḥ tīvraiḥ yujyamānaḥ sapatnaiḥ
kṣamām kurvan kālam upāsate yaḥ
sam vardhayan stokam iva agnim ātmanvān
saḥ vai bhuṅkte pṛthivīm ekaḥ eva
19. He who, being afflicted by severe troubles from rivals, practices patience and waits for the right time, while being self-possessed (ātman), gradually increases his power like fire; he alone indeed enjoys the earth.
