महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-254, verse-8

अप्येष शत्रोः शरणागतस्य दद्यात्प्राणान्धर्मचारी नृवीरः ।
परैह्येनं मूढ जवेन भूतये त्वमात्मनः प्राञ्जलिर्न्यस्तशस्त्रः ॥८॥
8. apyeṣa śatroḥ śaraṇāgatasya; dadyātprāṇāndharmacārī nṛvīraḥ ,
paraihyenaṁ mūḍha javena bhūtaye; tvamātmanaḥ prāñjalirnyastaśastraḥ.
8. api eṣaḥ śatroḥ śaraṇāgatasya dadyāt
prāṇān dharmacārī nṛvīraḥ
paraihi enam mūḍha javena bhūtaye tvam
ātmanaḥ prāñjaliḥ nyastaśastraḥ
8. Even this hero among men, who upholds righteousness (dharma), would grant lives to an enemy who has sought refuge. O foolish one, go to him quickly for your own well-being (ātman), with folded hands and your weapons laid down.
