महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-215, verse-11

विश्वामित्रश्चकारैतत्कर्म लोकहिताय वै ।
तस्मादृषिः कुमारस्य विश्वामित्रोऽभवत्प्रियः ॥११॥
11. viśvāmitraścakāraitatkarma lokahitāya vai ,
tasmādṛṣiḥ kumārasya viśvāmitro'bhavatpriyaḥ.
11. viśvāmitraḥ cakāra etat karma lokahitāya vai
tasmāt ṛṣiḥ kumārasya viśvāmitraḥ abhavat priyaḥ
11. Viśvāmitra indeed performed this deed for the welfare of the people. Therefore, the sage Viśvāmitra became dear to the boy (Rāma).
