महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-137, verse-1

युधिष्ठिर उवाच ।
कां तु ब्राह्मणपूजायां व्युष्टिं दृष्ट्वा जनाधिप ।
कं वा कर्मोदयं मत्वा तानर्चसि महामते ॥१॥
1. yudhiṣṭhira uvāca ,
kāṁ tu brāhmaṇapūjāyāṁ vyuṣṭiṁ dṛṣṭvā janādhipa ,
kaṁ vā karmodayaṁ matvā tānarcasi mahāmate.

janādhipa mahāmate,
brāhmaṇapūjāyām kām tu vyuṣṭim dṛṣṭvā,

1. Yudhiṣṭhira said: O ruler of people (janādhipa), O great-minded one (mahāmate), what benefit do you perceive in the reverence of brahmins, or what rise of (karma) do you consider, that you honor them?
