महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-249, verse-10

उपायमन्यं संपश्य प्रजानां हितकाम्यया ।
यथेमे जन्तवः सर्वे निवर्तेरन्परंतप ॥१०॥
10. upāyamanyaṁ saṁpaśya prajānāṁ hitakāmyayā ,
yatheme jantavaḥ sarve nivarteranparaṁtapa.
10. upāyam anyam saṃpaśya prajānām hitakāmyayā
yathā ime jantavaḥ sarve nivarteran paraṃtapa
10. paraṃtapa prajānām hitakāmyayā anyam upāyam
saṃpaśya yathā ime sarve jantavaḥ nivarteran
10. For the sake of the welfare of the creatures, find another method, O tormentor of foes, so that all these beings may turn back (from destruction).
