महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-167, verse-10

ततः स्थलगतं दृष्ट्वा तत्राप्यात्मानमात्मना ।
मर्तुं न शक्यमित्युक्त्वा पुनरेवाश्रमं ययौ ॥१०॥
10. tataḥ sthalagataṁ dṛṣṭvā tatrāpyātmānamātmanā ,
martuṁ na śakyamityuktvā punarevāśramaṁ yayau.
10. tataḥ sthalagatam dṛṣṭvā tatra api ātmānam ātmanā
martum na śakyam iti uktvā punaḥ eva āśramam yayau
10. Then, having seen himself on land, and realizing that even there it was not possible to die by his own means, he again returned to his hermitage (āśrama).
