द्विविधः प्रोच्यते राम मुनिर्मुनिवरैरिह ।
एकः काष्ठतपस्वी स्याज्जीवन्मुक्तस्तथेतरः ॥ ३ ॥

Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: "O Rāma, here in this world, a sage (muni) is declared by the excellent sages to be of two kinds: one may be an ascetic like a log, and the other is a liberated-while-living (jīvanmukta)."
