वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-5, chapter-53, verse-5

यदर्थमयमारम्भस्तत् कार्यमवसादितम् ।
मया हि दहता लङ्कां न सीता परिरक्षिता ॥५॥
5. yadarthamayamārambhastat kāryamavasāditam ,
mayā hi dahatā laṅkāṃ na sītā parirakṣitā.

5. That purpose, for which this whole endeavor began, has been utterly ruined. Indeed, by me, who was burning Lanka, Sita was not protected.
