वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-5, chapter-53, verse-19

न हि धर्मान्मनस्तस्य भार्याममिततेजसः ।
स्वचारित्राभिगुप्तां तां स्प्रष्टुमर्हति पावकः ॥१९॥
19. na hi dharmānmanastasya bhāryāmamitatejasaḥ ,
svacāritrābhiguptāṃ tāṃ spraṣṭumarhati pāvakaḥ.
19. na hi dharmāt manas tasya bhāryām amitatejasaḥ
sva-cāritrābhiguptām tām spraṣṭum arhati pāvakaḥ
19. hi na tasya manas dharmāt amitatejasaḥ bhāryām
sva-cāritrābhiguptām tām spraṣṭum arhati pāvakaḥ
19. Indeed, neither could his (Rama's) mind, due to his intrinsic nature (dharma), desire to defile her, the wife of the immensely powerful one, nor would the fire god be able to touch her, protected as she is by her own pure conduct.
