वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-1, chapter-11, verse-2

ततः प्रसाद्य शिरसा तं विप्रं देववर्णिनम् ।
यज्ञाय वरयामास संतानार्थं कुलस्य वै ॥२॥
2. tataḥ prasādya śirasā taṃ vipraṃ devavarṇinam ,
yajñāya varayāmāsa saṃtānārthaṃ kulasya vai.

2. Then, reverently bowing his head, he propitiated that brahmin (vipra) who was like a god, and invited him to officiate a Vedic ritual (yajña) for the sake of progeny for his lineage.
