Half of the sum of the `ceṣṭā-raśmi` (motion ray) and the `uccaraśmi` (exaltation ray) is declared to be the auspicious ray (`śubharaśmi`). And that (value) which is subtracted from eight is called the inauspicious ray (`aśubhākhyaḥ`).
