महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-52, verse-21

शिवं महत्पुण्यमिदं दिवौकसां सुसंमतं स्वर्गगुणैः समन्वितम् ।
अतश्च सर्वेऽपि वसुंधराधिपा हता गमिष्यन्ति महात्मनां गतिम् ॥२१॥
21. śivaṁ mahatpuṇyamidaṁ divaukasāṁ; susaṁmataṁ svargaguṇaiḥ samanvitam ,
ataśca sarve'pi vasuṁdharādhipā; hatā gamiṣyanti mahātmanāṁ gatim.
21. śivam mahat puṇyam idam divaukasām
susaṃmatam svargaguṇaiḥ samanvitam
ataḥ ca sarve api vasundharādhipāḥ
hatāḥ gamiṣyanti mahātmanām gatim
21. idam śivam mahat puṇyam divaukasām
susaṃmatam svargaguṇaiḥ samanvitam
[asti] ataḥ ca sarve api vasundharādhipāḥ
hatāḥ mahātmanām gatim gamiṣyanti
21. This place (Kurukshetra) is auspicious, greatly meritorious, and highly esteemed by the gods, being endowed with heavenly qualities. Therefore, all kings of the earth who are slain here will attain the destination (gati) of great souls.
