महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-41, verse-11

संजय उवाच ।
द्रौपदीहरणे यत्तद्भीमसेनेन निर्जितः ।
मानात्स तप्तवान्राजा वरार्थी सुमहत्तपः ॥११॥
11. saṁjaya uvāca ,
draupadīharaṇe yattadbhīmasenena nirjitaḥ ,
mānātsa taptavānrājā varārthī sumahattapaḥ.

nirjitaḥ mānāt saḥ taptavān rājā varārthī sumahat tapaḥ

nirjitaḥ saḥ rājā mānāt varārthī sumahat tapaḥ taptavān
11. Saṃjaya said: The king, having been defeated by Bhīmasena during the abduction of Draupadī, performed very great asceticism (tapas) out of injured pride and desiring a boon.
