महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-86, verse-5

अपि चात्र महायोगी मार्कण्डेयो महातपाः ।
अनुवंश्यां जगौ गाथां नृगस्य धरणीपतेः ॥५॥
5. api cātra mahāyogī mārkaṇḍeyo mahātapāḥ ,
anuvaṁśyāṁ jagau gāthāṁ nṛgasya dharaṇīpateḥ.
5. api ca atra mahāyogī mārkaṇḍeyaḥ mahātapaḥ
anuvamśyām jagau gāthām nṛgasya dharaṇīpateḥ
5. And here, the great ascetic (tapas practitioner) and yogi (yoga practitioner) Mārkaṇḍeya narrated a traditional song (gāthā) regarding King Nṛga.
