महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-286, verse-9

इदं त्वमनुजानीहि सुरश्रेष्ठ व्रतं मम ।
भिक्षते वज्रिणे दद्यामपि जीवितमात्मनः ॥९॥
9. idaṁ tvamanujānīhi suraśreṣṭha vrataṁ mama ,
bhikṣate vajriṇe dadyāmapi jīvitamātmanaḥ.
9. idam tvam anujānīhi sura-śreṣṭha vratam mama
bhikṣate vajriṇe dadyām api jīvitam ātmanaḥ
9. O best among gods (sura-śreṣṭha), know this to be my vow (vrata): I would give even my own life (ātman) to Indra (Vajrin) if he were to beg for it.
