महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-271, verse-17

स पपात महावीर्यो दिव्यास्त्राभिहतो रणे ।
महाशनिविनिर्दग्धः पादपोऽङ्कुरवानिव ॥१७॥
17. sa papāta mahāvīryo divyāstrābhihato raṇe ,
mahāśanivinirdagdhaḥ pādapo'ṅkuravāniva.

17. That greatly powerful (demon) fell on the battlefield, struck by the divine weapon, just like a young tree with sprouts (aṅkuravān), burnt down by a mighty thunderbolt.
