महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-182, verse-4

चरमाणस्तु सोऽरण्ये तृणवीरुत्समावृते ।
कृष्णाजिनोत्तरासङ्गं ददर्श मुनिमन्तिके ।
स तेन निहतोऽरण्ये मन्यमानेन वै मृगम् ॥४॥
4. caramāṇastu so'raṇye tṛṇavīrutsamāvṛte ,
kṛṣṇājinottarāsaṅgaṁ dadarśa munimantike ,
sa tena nihato'raṇye manyamānena vai mṛgam.

4. While he (the prince) was moving about in the forest, which was covered with grass and creepers, he saw a sage nearby who wore an upper garment of black deer skin. The sage was indeed killed in the forest by him (the prince), who mistook him for a deer.
