इष्टीश्च विविधाः प्राप्य क्रतूंश्चैवाप्तदक्षिणान् ।
नैव प्राप्नोति ब्राह्मण्यमभिध्यानात्कथंचन ॥४॥

Even after performing various sacrifices and rituals (kratu) with complete sacrificial fees (dakṣiṇā), one does not attain the state of a Brāhmaṇa through mere desire or contemplation (dhyāna) in any way.
