महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-9, verse-19

स दृष्ट्वा जिह्मगान्सर्वांस्तीव्रकोपसमन्वितः ।
अभिहन्ति यथासन्नं गृह्य प्रहरणं सदा ॥१९॥
19. sa dṛṣṭvā jihmagānsarvāṁstīvrakopasamanvitaḥ ,
abhihanti yathāsannaṁ gṛhya praharaṇaṁ sadā.

19. Seeing all the serpents, and filled with intense rage, he would always seize a weapon nearby and strike them.
