महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-29, verse-21

तत्र तं सर्वभूतानि विस्मितान्यब्रुवंस्तदा ।
सुरूपं पत्रमालक्ष्य सुपर्णोऽयं भवत्विति ॥२१॥
21. tatra taṁ sarvabhūtāni vismitānyabruvaṁstadā ,
surūpaṁ patramālakṣya suparṇo'yaṁ bhavatviti.
21. tatra tam sarvabhūtāni vismitāni abruvan tadā
surūpam patram ālakṣya suparṇaḥ ayam bhavatu iti
21. Then, all beings, astonished, said to him (Garuḍa) at that time, "Having seen this beautiful feather, let him be known as Suparṇa (beautiful-winged)!"
