महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-221, verse-4

इमे च मां कर्षयन्ति शिशवो मन्दचेतसः ।
अबर्हाश्चरणैर्हीनाः पूर्वेषां नः परायणम् ।
त्रासयंश्चायमायाति लेलिहानो महीरुहान् ॥४॥
4. ime ca māṁ karṣayanti śiśavo mandacetasaḥ ,
abarhāścaraṇairhīnāḥ pūrveṣāṁ naḥ parāyaṇam ,
trāsayaṁścāyamāyāti lelihāno mahīruhān.
4. ime ca mām karṣayanti śiśavaḥ
mandacetasaḥ abarhāḥ caraṇaiḥ hīnāḥ
pūrveṣām naḥ parāyaṇam trāsayan
ca ayam āyāti lelihānaḥ mahīruhān
4. And these dull-witted, featherless children, devoid of feet, who are our refuge (parāyaṇam) for our ancestors (lineage), distress me. And that (fire) comes terrifyingly, licking the trees.
