श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
वातवर्षहिमोत्पातपातभग्ने धरातले ।
जडवेगोऽगमद्वृद्धिं कलाविव महीपतिः ॥ १ ॥
śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca ,
vātavarṣahimotpātapātabhagne dharātale ,
jaḍavego'gamadvṛddhiṃ kalāviva mahīpatiḥ 1

dharātale jaḍavegaḥ agamat vṛddhim kalāḥ iva mahīpatiḥ
1. śrīvasiṣṭhaḥ uvāca.
vātavarṣahimotpātapātabhagne dharātale jaḍavegaḥ kalāḥ iva mahīpatiḥ vṛddhim agamat.
1. Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: On the earth (dharātala), shattered by the impact of calamities, winds, rains, and snows, the sluggish current (of water) increased, just as a king (mahīpati) grows in his powers (kalāḥ).
