श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
सर्गादौ स्वप्नसंवित्त्या चिदेवाभाति केवला ।
जगदित्यवभासेव ब्रह्मैवातो जगत्त्रयम् ॥ १ ॥

Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: At the beginning of creation, pure consciousness (cit) alone appears through a dream-like cognition, manifesting as if it were the world. Therefore, the three worlds are indeed Brahman itself.
