योगवासिष्ठः yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-1, chapter-15, verse-3

अहंकारवशादापदहंकाराहुराधयः ।
अहंकारवशादीहा त्वहंकारो ममामयः ॥ ३ ॥

ahaṃkāravaśādāpadahaṃkārāhurādhayaḥ ,
ahaṃkāravaśādīhā tvahaṃkāro mamāmayaḥ 3

3. ahaṅkāravaśāt āpadaḥ ahaṅkārāt āhuḥ ādhayaḥ |
ahaṅkāravaśāt īhā tu ahaṅkāraḥ mama āmayaḥ || 3 ||

3. From ego (ahaṅkāra) come calamities; from ego (ahaṅkāra), they say, come mental anxieties. From ego (ahaṅkāra) springs desire, and truly, ego (ahaṅkāra) is my very disease.

3. בשל האגו (אַהַנְקָארָה) באות אסונות, מהאגו נובעים ייסורי הנפש, מהאגו צומחת רדיפת התשוקות – והאגו עצמו הוא חוליי העמוק.
