वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-48, verse-6

तं तु देशमभिप्रेत्य किं चित् पद्भ्यां महामुनिः ।
अर्घ्यमादाय रुचिरं जाह्वनीतीरमाश्रितः ।
ददर्श राघवस्येष्टां पत्नीं सीतामनाथवत् ॥६॥
6. taṃ tu deśamabhipretya kiṃ cit padbhyāṃ mahāmuniḥ ,
arghyamādāya ruciraṃ jāhvanītīramāśritaḥ ,
dadarśa rāghavasyeṣṭāṃ patnīṃ sītāmanāthavat.

padbhyām mahāmuniḥ arghyam ādāya ruciram
jāhvanītīram āśritaḥ dadarśa
rāghavasya iṣṭām patnīm sītām anāthavat
6. The great sage, setting out for that place, walking a short distance on foot, took a beautiful offering (arghya). Resting on the bank of the Jahnavi (Ganga), he then saw Sita, Rama's beloved wife, looking like one without a protector.
