न वानरः स्थास्यति साधुवृत्ते न मंस्यते कार्यफलानुषङ्गान् ।
न भक्ष्यते वानरराज्यलक्ष्मीं तथा हि नाभिक्रमते ऽस्य बुद्धिः ॥२॥

2. na vānaraḥ sthāsyati sādhuvṛtte na maṃsyate kāryaphalānuṣaṅgān ,
na bhakṣyate vānararājyalakṣmīṃ tathā hi nābhikramate'sya buddhiḥ.

He (Sugriva) will not maintain good conduct. He will not contemplate the consequences of his actions. He will not enjoy the prosperity of the monkey kingdom because, indeed, his intellect (buddhi) does not apply itself to (such duties).
