वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-2, chapter-77, verse-21

दातुं च तावदिच्छामि स्वर्गतस्य महीपतेः ।
और्ध्वदेह निमित्तार्थमवतीर्योदकं नदीम् ॥२१॥
21. dātuṃ ca tāvadicchāmi svargatasya mahīpateḥ ,
aurdhvadeha nimittārthamavatīryodakaṃ nadīm.
21. dātum ca tāvat icchāmi svargatasya mahīpateḥ
aurdhvadeha nimittārtham avatīrya udakam nadīm
21. ca tāvat nadīm avatīrya udakam svargatasya
mahīpateḥ aurdhvadeha nimittārtham dātum icchāmi
21. And indeed, I wish to descend to the river and offer water for the purpose of the post-mortem rites (aurdhvadeha) of the deceased king.
