वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-2, chapter-26, verse-16

इह लोके च पितृभिर्या स्त्री यस्य महामते ।
अद्भिर्दत्ता स्वधर्मेण प्रेत्यभावे ऽपि तस्य सा ॥१६॥
16. iha loke ca pitṛbhiryā strī yasya mahāmate ,
adbhirdattā svadharmeṇa pretyabhāve'pi tasya sā.

16. O great-minded one, the woman who is given by her parents with water in this world to a man, according to proper custom (dharma), she belongs to him even in the afterlife.
