वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-1, chapter-31, verse-19

पिता हि प्रभुरस्माकं दैवतं परमं हि सः ।
यस्य नो दास्यति पिता स नो भर्ता भविष्यति ॥१९॥
19. pitā hi prabhurasmākaṃ daivataṃ paramaṃ hi saḥ ,
yasya no dāsyati pitā sa no bhartā bhaviṣyati.
19. pitā hi prabhuḥ asmākam daivatam paramam hi saḥ
yasya naḥ dāsyati pitā saḥ naḥ bhartā bhaviṣyati
19. pitā asmākam prabhuḥ hi saḥ hi paramam daivatam (asti)
yasya naḥ pitā dāsyati saḥ naḥ bhartā bhaviṣyati
19. For a father is indeed our lord; he is truly our supreme deity. The one whom our father will give to us will be our husband.
