मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-89, verse-3

ऋषिरुवाच ।
चकार कोपमतुलं रक्तबीजे निपातिते ।
शुम्भासुरो निशुम्भश्च हतेष्वन्येषु चाहवे ॥३॥
3. ṛṣiruvāca .
cakāra kopamatulaṃ raktabīje nipātite .
śumbhāsuro niśumbhaśca hateṣvanyeṣu cāhave.
3. ṛṣiḥ uvāca cakāra kopam atulam raktabīje nipātite
śumbhāsuraḥ niśumbhaḥ ca hateṣu anyeṣu ca āhave
3. The sage said: "When Raktabīja was slain, and indeed when other [demons] had been killed in battle, Śumbha the Asura and Niśumbha became immensely angry."
