मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-54, verse-4

मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
शतार्धकोटिविस्तारा पृथिवी कृत्स्त्रशो द्विज ।
तस्या हि स्थानमखिलं कथयामि शृणुष्व तत् ॥४॥
4. mārkaṇḍeya uvāca .
śatārdhakoṭivistārā pṛthivī kṛtstraśo dvija .
tasyā hi sthānamakhilaṃ kathayāmi śṛṇuṣva tat.
4. mārkaṇḍeyaḥ uvāca śatārdhakoṭivistārā pṛthivī kṛtsnaśaḥ
dvija tasyāḥ hi sthānam akhilam kathayāmi śṛṇuṣva tat
4. Markaṇḍeya said: "O Brahmin (dvija), the earth (pṛthivī) has an entire extent of fifty million. Indeed, I will describe its complete layout (sthānam akhilam); listen to that."
