महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-9, verse-20

स विचिन्त्य महाराज पुनरेवाब्रवीद्वचः ।
असंशयं सूतपुत्र कालः संक्षिपते जगत् ।
सृजते च पुनः सर्वं नेह विद्यति शाश्वतम् ॥२०॥
20. sa vicintya mahārāja punarevābravīdvacaḥ ,
asaṁśayaṁ sūtaputra kālaḥ saṁkṣipate jagat ,
sṛjate ca punaḥ sarvaṁ neha vidyati śāśvatam.
20. saḥ vicintya mahārāja punaḥ eva
abravīt vacaḥ | asaṃśayam sūtaputra
kālaḥ saṃkṣipate jagat | sṛjate ca
punaḥ sarvam na iha vidyati śāśvatam
20. mahārāja,
saḥ vicintya punaḥ eva vacaḥ abravīt.
sūtaputra,
asaṃśayam kālaḥ jagat saṃkṣipate,
ca punaḥ sarvam sṛjate.

20. Having reflected, O great king, he spoke again: "O son of Sūta, undoubtedly, Time (kāla) contracts the world, and again creates all. Nothing here is eternal."
