महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-169, verse-11

तैरहं समरे वीर त्वामायद्भिर्जयैषिभिः ।
योत्स्यामि जयमाकाङ्क्षन्नथ वा निधनं रणे ॥११॥
11. tairahaṁ samare vīra tvāmāyadbhirjayaiṣibhiḥ ,
yotsyāmi jayamākāṅkṣannatha vā nidhanaṁ raṇe.
11. taiḥ aham samare vīra tvām āyat-bhiḥ jaya-eṣibhiḥ
yotsyāmi jayam ākaṅkṣan atha vā nidhanam raṇe
11. vīra aham taiḥ tvām āyat-bhiḥ jaya-eṣibhiḥ samare
jayam vā atha raṇe nidhanam ākaṅkṣan yotsyāmi
11. O hero, I will fight them in battle—those who are coming against you, seeking victory (jaya)—desiring either victory (jaya) or death (nidhana) in the conflict.
