महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-118, verse-5

निर्दिश्यमानेषु तु सा वरेषु वरवर्णिनी ।
वरानुत्क्रम्य सर्वांस्तान्वनं वृतवती वरम् ॥५॥
5. nirdiśyamāneṣu tu sā vareṣu varavarṇinī ,
varānutkramya sarvāṁstānvanaṁ vṛtavatī varam.
5. nirdiśyamāneṣu tu sā vareṣu varavarṇinī varān
utkramya sarvān tān vanam vṛtavatī varam
5. But when the suitors (vara) were being indicated, that beautiful lady (varavarṇinī), having bypassed all those suitors, chose the forest (vana) as the best.
